"The mask thing was a hoot!! He was hit in the side of the face during the first period and it hit him hard enough he was spitting a good amount of blood out...Craig Brewer checked it out and said the teeth looked okay....So during the second (period) he had his mask on and another puck headed straight for him....It missed him by about an inch and it hit HARD...He looked at me like, 'man I'm glad I have this mask on!!!' I laughed and gave him the thumbs-up....He's a cute kid....looks about 12....Really friendly though....through the bench glass"

Gingras' effort in the two events the goalies participated in might have been lost by the big deficit his Northern squad faced.
On a regular night, if you stop 25 of 29, it might not even be a good night. But against point-blank shots like he faced Tuesday, it's a great night.
"I just tried to have fun," the rookie netminder from Quebec said. "When you have fun, it comes easy and that's what happened. Everybody had fun and that's why the competition was great."
While he's likely to have an equally rough time tonight in the actual game, Gingras wasn't concerned.
"Of course, it's going to be an offensive game," the diminutive goalie said. "That's why it's fun for the fans."
He was happy for one thing that won't happen after the game.
"We don't take the stats."

"A small goalie who doesn't play his angles well and goes down a lot gets in trouble," said Express coach Scott Gordon, who is a former goaltender. "Gingras is able to stay on his feet and he plays his angles exceptionally well, so he's never out of position."

But Gingras, as he has all year, refused to budge, and following another faceoff with 9.7 seconds left, the puck finally left Richmond's zone to end it.

Berthiaume embraced his counterpart warmly when they met. "He told me, 'Good job,'" said Gingras, "'I like you a lot as a friend.'"

It was the first time all year the Renegades had forced Gingras to win a game 1-0.
"Is that right?" said Gingras. "Well, it just shows how much luck can come into it. You can play great and win 3-2...or lose 3-2. One to nothing? Just another score."

Gingras nearly started the season in a Sea Wolves jersey.
"That was a real mess," Gingras said. "I didn't have a team to play for at the beginning of the season. I was in camp with the (International Hockey League's Michigan) K-Wings. Then I went to Dayton and they already had two goalies under contract so they put me on waivers."
That, of course, ruled the Sea Wolves out of Gingras' picture even after he was signed by the IHL's Orlando Solar Bears.
With John Gagnon owning the Mississippi and Dayton franchises, he was not eligible to play for the Sea Wolves after his Dayton camp experience."

"I thought Gingras had a great butterfly move. I guess he's tagged for the ECHL with Friesen, but I sure thought some of his moves looked AHL to me"

"I had a chance to sit with Gingras last night. His attitude is as impressive as his talent. Max has taken a real liking to Providence and I think he would fit in very well in the roster as a back-up to the more experienced Whitmore. In speaking with Peter Ferraro, he told me that he has never seen a Goaltender with the glove that Max has. Don't let his size fool you. This kid is for real."
From Corey,a Providence Bruins fan

"It was a great feeling to win here in Quebec in front of my family and friends," said Gingras. "I played a good butterfly style and I have to admit that I didn't have a lot of rebounds to take care of so my teammates played very good in front of me."
Gingras, who signed a professional tryout contract, realizes his time to impress may be short.
"I'm on a 25 games tryout so I have to play the best I can do every time the coaches will ask me to go in the net," said Gingras. "I will have to force them to keep me on the team."
He's already convinced one member of the AHL.
"We have to give credit to Maxime Gingras the first star of the game as he was exceptional tonight," said Quebec head coach Michel Therien. "It's been a long time since he played in front of his family and he gave an exceptional performance tonight. He was the story of the game."

"I have a lot of respect for a goalie such as Whitmore, who's spent his many years in goal. HOWEVER, I think we need Gingras. He plays like a little bolt of lightning, and he's GOOD! Plus, he's got youth on his side."

Providence received a yeoman's effort in goal from Maxime Gingras, who kicked out 40 shots and saved the P-Bruins from a blowout at the hands of the league's hottest club (8-1-0 in Portland's last nine starts.) The damage almost certainly would have been greater, except for Gingras, who made his first appearance in the Providence net since returning to the club from Houston two weeks ago

"It was as much fun watching Gingras hold the Blades off in the first period of the Mobile game last night as it was watching the Blades win. "Go, tiny little goalie man, go!" I said to myself, as he sprouted arms and legs from his miniature self to magically stop w-aa-aa-aa-y more shots on goal than they ever gave him credit for. He was magic, mystical, like a space alien with a puck-disintegrator catcher and an antigravity blocker."

"Listened to the Florida game and had to say, "Max was awesome". Simply awesome. Can we clone him? Does he have a twin? What at game! Listening to a game on the radio or an internet broadcast is usually not that exciting. However, Max really excited even the Everblades announcer who commented often how Max had made unbelievable stops even when two or three players were there on the goal. We truly are lucky to have a goalie of his class. And, he is so fun to watch. I think that attendance at the Mysticks games should go up just because he is such an exciting player. Any one who sees him in action has to enjoy the intensity of his game and the sheer furvor he brings. And, he's so compact !! Glad to see that even our competitors appreciate his play."

I'll tell you about Max's visit so far. First off nobody knew about the call up until he skated out, then nobody knew who he was. The first night he sat out, but the second night he played and even though we lost, everybody wanted to know where this guy came from, and where they've been hiding him? We were all amazed with his saves.
